When I came to Jeff Rau at R&R physical therapy I was in pain every day and could barely walk. I’d been on crutches for 3 months before being diagnosed with a compressed nerve in my spine. Only 4 months after back surgery I had to have knee surgery. For about 8 months I tried 3 different physical therapy offices. They all tried to help but I still couldn’t walk without a lot of pain and swelling in my knee. My back pain and stiffness forced me to use dressing tools and I couldn’t bend enough to put on my own shoes.Jeff took the time to get my whole story. He didn’t just focus on my fixing my knee or back. He explained how the way I walked was keeping my pain and swelling going. He started slow with simple exercises that I had never been shown before. Unlike my previous therapists he treated me like a whole person! Everything he did when using manipulation and showing me how to exercise was to help my whole body work together correctly! After every visit I feel better and stronger. I was pretty discouraged when I first came to R&R but didn’t want to give up on getting better. I wanted to feel good again. I’m so happy I found Jeff Rau. I’m walking for 20 minutes now without pain and still getting better. I’m not going to be discouraged by pain ever again. Having someone like Jeff who has advanced knowledge and skill makes all the difference. But just as important is that Jeff helped me to have a positive attitude and keep trying. When I first visited Jeff Rau Physical Therapy, I had been diagnosed with an unspecified low back problem. I had seen a Neurologist and Neurosurgeon, and they made the referral for physical therapy. My wife is a P.T., and she was looking for someone to treat me with a unique set of skills (beyond the typical physical therapist’s expertise). Jeff was the perfect choice, as he has additional degrees in "hands-on" or "manual" physical therapy. I was not familiar with this type of physical therapist, but I found the approach to be extremely helpful in treating my problem!Unlike typical physical therapy appointments that provide treatment through the attention of both a physical therapist and a P.T. assistant, you work 100% of the time with Mr. Rau. Through a combination of visual and manual evaluation, Jeff quickly identified the problem area for my back, as well as several additional issues that were contributing to my situation. When I first visited Jeff, I had trouble walking from my car to his office with a cane. I now have been able to walk over 2.5 miles in a day!I found Jeff to be professional, engaging, friendly and knowledgeable. He is uniquely qualified and has significantly improved my situation.
